Does Winco sell paint to re-coat areas where the powder coat has peeled? I have a very old version of the 8400 watt standby generator and it has peeling paint and the enclosure has rust. Let me know of a source of matching paint.

      Hello Asher,
We recommend using our WINCO premium synthetic 5W-30 oil. You can contact our parts department at 507-357-6831 to order. You can find all oil information in the Operators Manual. When on our website, go to the product page, scroll down and click on downloads and a table will appear.

My 2 year old Winco ps88b quits after 5 minutes. Error code is a capital V with an adjacent down arrow. Oil level is full and clear (i.e., new). Service is 120 miles away. Is this something a customer can handle?

More infor: generator is lightly used (only in summer). It’s only been run when I exercise it about once every 2 weeks. I suspect there’s less than 20 hours on it. In the winter I keep it covered and free of snow (battery removed, of course).

  3. Question

    Mark Gandulla

I have a PSS8B generator that’s about 8-10 years old. The generator stopped exercising quite awhile ago and nothing has been touched on the generator or control panel. When I push the start switch up to the start position nothing happened. So i replaced the starter solenoid thinking that was the problem but still the same thing. I tried jumping the solenoid and the engine started up no problem and when I returned the start switch to the auto position the engine shut off. So I though that it might be a bad start switch, so I replaced that. And it still doesn’t start with the switch or exercise. But I can still start it by jumping the solenoid. I checked the two fuses on the panel and they’re fine.
What else can I check, I’m at a loss. I called an electrician to come look at it and he wanted me to sign an annual maintenance contract before he would even look at it.
Any help you could provide I would appreciate.

      Hello Mark,
When in auto, the start/stop switch is controlled by the transfer switch. If the transfer switch sees utility power, it will shut down the unit. It does sound like your generator is repaired. If you have any further questions, please call our Service Department at 507-357-6831.
