  1. Question

    Peggy Hirt

January 1, 2018 conditions in southern Missouri (60 miles from Springfield) were temp at 7AM at 12 degrees below zero and 0 at 11:15AM. Regular unit exercise was programmed for a startup at 11:15. I listened for start up and it DID start after 1 failed attempt. I’m wondering if it would be possible to install an oil pan heater pad? and possibly a battery heater pad? I would be able to “plug in” these pads when temperatures called for safe engine start ups. Do you have any suggestions for approximate degree temp ?? I am originally from Fairbanks, Alaska with many engine preventative maintenance needs.

      Peggy,

Thank you for your inquiry. There are heater kits available for both the engine and the battery. The engine oil heater kit is a Winco # 15809-003. The battery heater kit is a Winco # 300484-3. Both are plugged into a receptacle on the generator set. This receptacle is powered with a 120 volt circuit feed from utility power. There are thermostats built into the control boxes of these kits. They turn the heaters on at 50 degrees and shut off when the temperature reaches 60 degrees. You can contact our Service Department to order these @ 507-357-6831.
